TriPeaks Solitaire
Play an uncovered card one rank higher or lower than the waste card, suit doesn't matter, and clear all 28 cards from the three peaks.
How to play tripeaks solitaire online
- Find the waste card. It is the face-up card that starts the pile, and every play builds on it.
- Look for playable cards. With Highlights on, cards you can play have a blue outline.
- Click or tap an uncovered card whose rank is exactly one higher or one lower than the waste card. Suit does not matter.
- If the card does not fit, it shakes and a message tells you why.
- Read the status line after each good move. It shows the points you earned, such as “+4 (streak 4)”.
- When no table card fits, click or tap the stock to turn the next card onto the waste.
- Stuck? Click Hint, or press H, to highlight one card to play for 5 seconds.
- Made a mistake? Click Undo, or press U or Ctrl/Cmd+Z. Undo has no limit.
- Clear all 28 table cards to win.
Use N for a new game and Restart this deal to replay the same deal number. Arrow keys move the focus between uncovered cards, Tab moves between cards and the stock, and Enter plays the focused card. Press F for fullscreen. To share a deal, copy the page address, which includes the deal number after ?seed=.
What are the tripeaks solitaire rules?
Tripeaks solitaire is played with one 52-card deck. Twenty-eight cards form three overlapping peaks in four rows of 3, 6, 9 and 10 cards, and the other 24 cards make up the stock. The bottom row of 10 is face up. Every other card is face down until both cards covering it are gone, and then it turns face up and can be played.
A face-up card can be played onto the waste when its rank is exactly one higher or one lower than the waste’s top card. Suit never matters, so a 6 of hearts can go on a 7 of spades. The played card becomes the new waste top. You can also turn the next stock card onto the waste at any time, but only once per card, because the stock is not redealt. The game is won when all 28 table cards are cleared. It ends with “No more moves” when the stock is empty and no uncovered card fits the waste.
How is tripeaks solitaire scored?
Each card you play from the table scores the length of your current streak. The first card in a row scores 1, the second scores 2, the third scores 3, and so on. Turning a stock card resets the streak to 0, but it does not reduce your score. Playing a peak top, one of the three top-row cards, adds a bonus of 15 points, and each peak gives this bonus once. When you clear the 28th card, you get 5 points for every card left in the stock.
Score only goes up, except when you use Undo, which restores the earlier score and streak exactly. There is no timer and no move counter, so points are the only measure of how well a deal went.
What is tripeaks solitaire strategy and tips?
Plan your chains before you turn the stock. Because a stock turn resets the streak to 0, every table card you can play before turning gives you a longer streak. For example, five cards played in a row score 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 15 points, while the first card after a stock turn scores only 1 again.
Keep stock cards when you can. Each unused stock card adds 5 points if you win, so turn the stock only when no table card fits.
Aim for the peak tops. Each one adds 15 points on top of its streak points, so clearing a peak early is worth a lot. Cards in the bottom row are never covered, so they are always available as early plays.
Use Undo to test a line. Undo restores the score and streak exactly, so trying a move and reversing it costs nothing. Use Hint when you are unsure, but remember that it only suggests one next move, so it does not plan the whole deal.
What does the K–A wrap option change in tripeaks solitaire?
With K–A wrap on, which is the default, King and Ace connect in a circle. A King can go on an Ace, and an Ace can go on a King, in addition to the usual plays like a Queen on a King or a 2 on an Ace. With wrap off, King and Ace do not connect, so an Ace is only low and a King is only high. Your best score is saved separately for each setting. Changing the option starts a new game.
