Left Right Center Dice Game
Roll one die per chip, up to three. L passes left, R passes right, C goes to the centre — the last player with chips wins.
This left right center dice game is free to play in your browser for 3 to 10 players, with no sign-up. It is a family dice game played with chips, which are only game counters. Nothing is played for money, bets or prizes.
By default you play against computer players, or you can pass the device between people. Each turn you roll up to three dice, and the faces decide whether a chip moves left, moves right, goes into the centre, or stays with you. The game ends when only one player still holds chips, and that player takes the centre. The table shows the chips, the centre, the turn count and your wins.
How to play the left right center dice game online
- Open the Players menu and choose a number from 3 to 10. The default is 4. Changing it starts a new game at once.
- Set Mode to Vs computers to play against CPU seats, or to This device to take turns with other people on the same device.
- Pick Speed: Normal or Fast. Changing it does not restart the game.
- Press the big Roll button under the table. It says “Roll 3 dice”, “Roll 2 dice” or “Roll 1 die”, depending on how many chips you hold.
- Read the status line and the Recent turns box to see what each die did.
- Wait while the computer seats play. The Roll button is greyed out during their turns.
- Press New game at any time to start a fresh game.
- Optional: press Names, type up to 14 characters for each seat, then press Save names.
Keyboard shortcuts: Space or Enter rolls when it is a human seat’s turn and the focus is on the page, not on a button, menu or field. N starts a new game, F opens fullscreen and Esc closes a dialog. The Rules button opens the rules at any time. Auto-roll makes every seat roll by itself so you can watch a whole game, and pressing it again hands the dice back to you. To make the dice repeat, add ?seed=123 to the address; the address also shows the seed of the current game.
What are the left right center dice game rules?
Each player starts with 3 chips, and the centre starts empty. On your turn you roll one die for each chip you hold, with a maximum of 3 dice. Each die has six faces: L, R, C and three dots.
The faces work like this. L passes one chip to the player on your left, which is the next player clockwise. R passes one chip to the player on your right, which is the previous player, counter-clockwise. C puts one chip into the centre, where it stays out of play for the rest of the game. A dot means you keep the chip.
Seat 1 goes first, and play moves clockwise. Because you never roll more dice than you have chips, you can never go below zero. For example, with 4 players holding 3 chips each, seat 1 rolls L, L and R. Two chips go to the next player clockwise and one to the previous player, so the table goes from 3, 3, 3, 3 to 0, 5, 3, 4.
What happens when a player runs out of chips?
A player with 0 chips skips the turn but stays in the game. The table shows “has no chips, so the turn is skipped,” and no button press is needed. A skipped turn counts in the Turn total but is not a roll.
That player can return to the game when a neighbour rolls L or R toward them. On their next turn they roll again. A player who has no chips is still a seat in the game, not a player who has been removed.
How does a left right center dice game end?
The game ends the moment only one player still holds chips. That player wins and takes the centre. The winner box shows “wins!”, the number of chips in the centre and the number of turns played.
No chip ever disappears: the chips on the seats plus the chips in the centre always add up to 3 times the number of players. There is always exactly one winner, so a tie cannot happen.
What are the odds of each face on a left right center die?
Each die is a standard six-faced die with L, R and C on one face each, and three dots. Each of L, R and C has a 1 in 6 chance on every roll. The dot has a 1 in 2 chance, because it takes up three faces.
Is there any left right center strategy?
There is no strategy in the sense of choices, because every move is decided by the dice. You cannot pick which die to keep, which player to pass to, or how many dice to roll. Winning comes down to the dice, not to decisions you make.
A few facts follow directly from the rules. A player with three or more chips always rolls three dice, so holding more chips means more chips can move in a turn. Chips that reach the centre are out for good, so the number of players still in the game shrinks over time. Games get longer with more players. In a test of 200 seeded games, the average was about 20 turns with 3 players, 35 with 4, 66 with 6 and 142 with 10. If you want to watch rather than play, use Auto-roll.
