Board Games
These are turn-based games played on a board against the computer or a friend. They range from simple line-making games (Tic Tac Toe, Four in a Row, Gomoku) to capturing and racing games (Reversi, Mancala, Backgammon, Chinese Checkers, Snakes and Ladders).
Tools in this group
- Backgammon — Race your 15 checkers home and bear them off first. Hit blots, build points and watch the pip count.
- Chinese Checkers — Move your 10 marbles across the star to the opposite point. Step one hole or hop over marbles in long chains.
- Dots and Boxes — Take turns drawing a line between two dots; close the fourth side of a box to claim it and move again.
- Four in a Row — Drop discs into the columns and line up four of your colour across, down or diagonally before your opponent does.
- Gomoku — Place black and white stones in turn. The first to make an unbroken line of five — across, down or diagonal — wins.
- Mancala — Sow seeds counter-clockwise, land in your store for an extra turn and capture from empty pits — against the computer or a friend on the same device.
- Reversi — Place a disc to trap your opponent's discs between two of yours and flip them — the most discs at the end wins.
- Sea Battle — Hide your fleet, then call your shots on the enemy grid. Sink all of the computer's ships before it finds yours.
- Snake and Ladder Game — Roll the die, climb the ladders, slide down the snakes — the first token to reach square 100 wins.
- Tic Tac Toe — Get three in a row before your opponent does — play the computer on three levels or a friend on the same device.
